About Brigadeiro

Chocolate fudge balls rolled in sprinkles, made from condensed milk, cocoa, and butter. Named after Brigadier Eduardo Gomes, a handsome presidential candidate in 1945 whose supporters sold the sweets to fund the campaign. He lost the election, the candy won the nation. A mandatory presence at every Brazilian birthday party. Dairy shortages after WWII made condensed milk the base of Brazilian desserts.
