About Moussaka
The Greek version with bechamel was created by Nikolaos Tselementes in the 1920s. Layers of eggplant, spiced meat, and creamy sauce. The Arab world has versions without bechamel. The word comes from Arabic musaqqa meaning moistened. A dish that conquered the entire eastern Mediterranean.
