About Takoyaki
Octopus balls invented in 1935 by Tomekichi Endo in Osaka. Crispy batter spheres with a piece of octopus inside, smothered in sauce, mayo, and dancing bonito flakes. Cooked in special cast iron pans with hemispherical molds, flipped at speed with picks. Osaka street food royalty. The dish spread from a childrens snack to a national obsession.
